One of the books that i will always remember it's called Myths of Cthulhu. This a recompilation of short horror stories from H.P. Lovecraft, almost all written around 1921 to 1935. Every story its located on different locations around the world.
What i loved about this book was the sole emphasis on the loss of hope and impotence humans could experience in front of all mighty beings.
I read this book when i still was a child and i was shocked by the thrilling experience of the enormous creatures and impressed by gods from outer space or even other dimensions. Abominations so big that a normal human would go crazy just by approaching to them.
I was amazed by the loneliness that a man can suffer exploring an ancient city ruled by mysterious lost civilizations.
This was the first time i experienced the cool ways an author can create such fantastic and terrific world just by words and their imagination.

I recommend this book to everyone that enjoys fantasy setups or unsolved mysteries, but keep in mind that if you look directly at Cthulhu there is no coming back to sanity.
