This happened more than 5 years ago. It was the summer of 2010 and we had to attend an uncle's wedding in Iquique. The idea was to rush over there by car, stay for about 2 weeks on their guest house and then the trip back was going to be an exploration experience for the north of Chile.

I went with my parents, my brother and 2 cousins. The trip back took us more than a month; we were stopping at every town, beach, monument or cool views. We slept on camping sites, or rented houses, but most of the time we camped. We even slept inside the moon valley on the car. One time at night we were diving on a ground street and stepped in front of a giant fence with a big sing. It was around 3 AM, so almost everyone was sleeping i woke my mom and she read "do not enter minefield ahead". We just turn back as fast as possible and returned to a main road with the fear in mind but laughing inside for the ridiculous and unbelievable situation.

My favourite moment was when we were about to run out of money, nearby the "penguin's island" and we had a choice to made, use almost everything and go on a boat tour for 3 hours or a rent a house for the night and don't sleep in the car. As it was around the end of holidays we just decided to take the tour, and it was amazing, about 1,5 hours. Almost on open sea the ship stopped and we saw a blue whale take a deep breath at 6m from us. I was shocked for minutes, it was so massive and beautiful. It had a dark blue color with an oil texture. The tail splashed so much water that the boat moved a lot. We slept on the car that night but it was totally worth it.
